Key Details:
- Working Days: Full-time, part-time considered with a fair share of late shifts
- Hours: 8-hour shifts between 7:15 am and 7:00 pm
- Duties: Surgical nursing and inpatient care within an orthopaedic referral setting
About the Role:
- The client is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a friendly orthopaedic referral team on a 12-month fixed-term basis for maternity cover.
- You don’t need any prior referral experience.
- The successful candidate will be a confident RVN with sound all-round nursing skills and an interest in surgical nursing.
- The role includes assisting in theatres, supporting orthopaedic procedures, delivering high-quality inpatient care, and collaborating closely with surgeons and the nursing team.
- Shifts are 8 hours between 7:15 am and 7:00 pm, with participation in a 1 in 6 weekend on-call rota and no out-of-hours.
- The salary is £31,000–£34,000, depending on experience. Full induction and ongoing support will be provided.

About the Practice:
The practice is a dedicated small animal orthopaedic referral centre that delivers advanced surgical and inpatient care. It operates from a modern, purpose-built facility in a rural setting, with two operating theatres and on-site CT, and manages a full range of orthopaedic procedures, including THR, TPLO, CUE, and arthroscopy. The clinical team includes an RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Surgery and an RCVS Advanced Practitioner. The nursing team comprises eleven RVNs and two VNAs led by an experienced Head Nurse. The practice culture is highly supportive, with structured induction, regular in-house training, and encouragement of external learning. Patients receive round-the-clock care within a well-equipped environment that promotes high standards and professional development.
