- Working Days: Fridays only
- Hours: Evening 5:30 pm–11:00 pm and/or Night 10:30 pm–8:00 am with a paid 1-hour break
- Duties: In-patient care for referral orthopaedic cases, pre- and post-surgery
- Salary: From £13,550 for the full evening and night shift combined, dependent on experience
About the Role:
- The client is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to provide compassionate in-patient care on Friday evenings and nights for a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover.
- The role focuses on managing the hospitalised caseload of orthopaedic patients, delivering nursing care, monitoring, and treatment plans in a calm and well-supported setting. There is no external emergency work, as patients are restricted to the practice’s own referral inpatients.
- The position will suit an RVN who is confident with all aspects of in-patient care. Prior referral experience is not essential. A structured induction and ongoing support will be provided. The client ideally seeks one nurse to cover both the evening and night shifts, averaging 5.5 to 14.5 hours per week.

About the Practice:
The practice is a dedicated small animal orthopaedic referral centre with a collaborative team culture. The clinical team includes recognised advanced practitioners and a strong nursing team led by an experienced head nurse. The facility is modern and purpose-built, located in a rural setting near Horsham, and is equipped with two operating theatres and advanced imaging, including CT. The centre delivers high standards of surgical and inpatient care and manages a full range of orthopaedic procedures such as THR, TPLO, CUE, and arthroscopy. The organisation supports ongoing professional development through regular in-house training and encouragement of external learning.
