- Working Days: Part-time, one weekday
- Hours: Weekday 9:00 am–7:00 pm; 1 in 4 weekends (Saturday 9:00 am–6:00 pm, Sunday 10:30 am–4:30 pm)
- Duties: Consultations with scope for soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures; no OOHs or bank holidays
About the Role:
- The client is seeking a part-time Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly small animal team on an initial fixed term contract of 6–12 months, with the potential to become permanent.
- The role will suit a clinician who is confident with routine consultations and is comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
- Candidates with 1–2 years’ small animal experience are preferred, although wider experience and interests will be considered.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- The work involves a varied caseload across dogs and cats, with opportunities to engage in soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures if desired, including patella luxation and cruciate repairs with TPLO.
- The practice welcomes applicants with certificates or specific interests, as well as those who prefer a consult-only focus.
- Clinical support is provided, with encouragement to see cases through from start to finish and to build strong client relationships.
- No out-of-hours or bank holiday work is required.

About the Practice:
The practice is located within a major retail park with free on-site parking and good access to the A13 and M25. The site is modern and purpose-built, with state-of-the-art equipment including digital X-ray, flexible endoscopy, multi-parameter monitoring, nerve locator, drip pumps, and a high-quality ultrasound capable of abdominal and cardiac scanning. There is easy access to advanced imaging with a 16-slice CT and MRI. The team values minimally invasive techniques such as bronchoscopy, gastroendoscopy, and colonoscopy, and places strong emphasis on anaesthesia and pain management, including nerve blocks and CRIs.
About the Team:
The multidisciplinary team comprises experienced vets, qualified nurses, student nurses, a veterinary care assistant, client care assistants, and management support. Team interests include orthopaedics, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging, with a senior vet holding a certificate in diagnostic imaging. The practice promotes open discussion of treatment options and provides estimates in advance, with a focus on affordability and quality care.
