Our client is seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract starting as soon as possible and running until August 2026. About The Role:

• The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients and supporting the veterinary team in clinical procedures.
• This full-time position includes working 2 weeknights and 2 split weekends within an 11-week rota, with time off in lieu provided.
• The role offers opportunities to handle emergency cases and utilise a wide range of skills.
• The practice is committed to professional development and provides a generous CPD allowance, along with opportunities to mentor Student Veterinary Nurses if you are a clinical coach.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting veterinary surgeons during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures.
• Preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment for diagnostic tests.
• Administering medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed.
• Monitoring the health and behaviour of animals pre- and post-surgery.
• Maintaining accurate medical records for each patient.
• Supporting pet owners by explaining treatment plans and addressing queries.
• Ensuring cleanliness and organisation of the clinic, including sterilisation of instruments.
• Participating in the training of Student Veterinary Nurses as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

• RCVS registration is essential.
• Strong laboratory skills, including familiarity with diagnostic testing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Compassionate approach towards animals and their owners.
• Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

The practice is an RCVS-accredited establishment with a history of nearly 100 years. It is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, and ultrasonography, enabling the delivery of exceptional care. The team includes 11 Registered Veterinary Nurses (3 part-time), 2 student nurses, 2 Animal Nursing Assistants, and 9 small animal veterinary surgeons. The practice fosters a collaborative and engaging culture, with team-building activities scheduled regularly.
