Key Details:

  • Role: Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon
  • Location: Diss
  • Working Days: Full or part-time, Monday to Friday, with Saturday mornings
  • Hours: Between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm, Saturdays 8:30 am to 12:00 pm
  • Duties: 15-minute consultations with a balanced caseload of medical and surgical work
  • Salary: £40,000–£60,000 pro rata, reflective of skills and experience

About the Role:

  • Our client is seeking a small animal veterinary surgeon to join the team at a modern branch clinic.
  • The role would suit an early-career vet or a colleague with established experience. The caseload is varied and includes both medicine and routine surgery.
  • Consultations are set at 15 minutes to support clinical quality and client communication. Regular breaks are built into the diary, with protected admin time for notes, client calls, and case discussions to promote timely finishes.
  • The environment is light and spacious, and there are regular team meetings to collaborate on clinical standards and service improvements. Visa support, initial accommodation, and transportation can be provided for up to three months if required.
  • They could only offer one day of surgery per week and would probably have 3-4 ops only. Our area has no real public transport, so a driving license is essential.

Benefits:

  • Benefits include 6.6 weeks’ holiday, including Bank Holidays pro rata, £1,750 CPD and 5 days’ CPD leave, paid RCVS, BVA and one other membership, Health Shield plan, cycle to work scheme, length of service rewards, paid compassionate leave, social and charity events, and free on-site parking.

About the Practice:

  • The practice is a friendly and engaged team with a focus on wellbeing and high clinical standards. Facilities include separate cat, dog, and exotic wards, a dedicated dental suite, an imaging room with digital x-ray and ultrasound, and a well-equipped in-house laboratory. There are three consultation rooms, a large waiting area with dedicated zones for cats, dogs, and anxious pets, and a quiet non-clinical room designed for end-of-life care.
  • The nursing team is highly skilled, with colleagues undertaking further qualifications in areas such as ultrasonography, advanced medical nursing, anaesthesia, feline behaviour, and dermatology. The practice promotes environmental initiatives, supports wildlife care through a fund for strays, and offers on-site kennels so team members can bring dogs to work. The location provides easy access to Norwich and London, with local amenities, beaches, forests, and popular dog walking routes nearby.
