About the Practice

The practice has been a trusted part of the Lancaster community since 1999, delivering outstanding care to patients and clients alike. The team brings over 100 years of combined experience, comprising 3 veterinary surgeons, 4 registered veterinary nurses (RVNs), 4 client care team members, and a practice manager who is also an RVN. Team members hold diverse clinical interests and qualifications, including acupuncture, emergency and critical care, feline nursing, and canine rehabilitation. The practice fosters a collaborative environment where knowledge and ideas are shared, and team members enjoy their work.

The facilities include purpose-built, state-of-the-art equipment such as an in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, and ultrasound. The practice is RCVS accredited to GP status and serves as a training site for RVNs and veterinary students in partnership with UCLan. It has achieved Silver Cat Friendly and Rabbit Friendly accreditation and is working towards Dog Friendly status. Located in Lancaster, the practice is ideally situated between Morecambe Bay, the Lake District, and the Yorkshire Dales, offering a balance of outdoor adventures and vibrant city living.

The Role

The client is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Registered Veterinary Nurse who thrives in a supportive team environment and is eager to contribute across all areas of nursing. Key responsibilities include:

– Conducting RVN consults and clinics

– Theatre duties and anaesthesia monitoring

– Prep and ward care

– Laboratory work

Experience in nurse clinics and theatre duties is preferred, but a positive attitude and a willingness to learn are equally valued.

Working Hours and Rota

– 35-hour working week

– No out-of-hours or on-call duties

– 1 in 4 Saturdays, with the preceding Friday off

– Typical rota:

– Monday: Off

– Tuesday and Wednesday: 8:30 am to 6:30 pm

– Thursday: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

– Friday (3 in 4) / Saturday (1 in 4): 8:30 am to 5:30 pm

– No Sunday hours

Salary

– £24,750 to £26,390 per annum, depending on experience (£28,080 to £30,160 FTE).
