Permanent Small Animal Vet Opportunity – Maldon, Essex
Our client is seeking an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a permanent basis. Located in Maldon, Essex, the practice offers modern facilities and advanced technology, including digital X-ray and in-house laboratory capabilities.
About The Role:
- The role involves handling a diverse range of first opinion cases, predominantly involving dogs and cats, alongside small furries and exotics.
- Surgical caseload includes neutering, mass removals, dentistry, basic ophthalmic surgery, emergency surgeries such as pyometra, C-sections, foreign bodies, cystotomies, and both surgical and non-surgical wound management.
- The practice encourages staff to develop their own areas of interest, offering support and funding for further studies.
More About The Hours On Offer:
- The position offers flexible working patterns to accommodate modern lifestyles.
- Most veterinary surgeons work between 9 am and 7 pm, fulfilling a 4-day working week with a 1:4 weekend rota (Saturday 9 am-6 pm and Sunday 10 am-4 pm).
- Bank holiday cover is shared among the team.
- Out-of-hours work is not required, with emergencies dedicated to Vets Now.

The team comprises 5 knowledgeable and friendly Registered Veterinary Nurses, 1 student RVN, 2 Veterinary Care Assistants, 5 receptionists, and 2.5 veterinary surgeons, including a year 2 graduate. The practice collaborates with a visiting certificate holder in small animal surgery, including orthopaedics, and supports clinical freedom within your case load. Regular clinical meetings and in-house Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions ensure high standards are maintained. Social gatherings are also regularly organised on the bustling Maldon High Street.
